Planning weddings takes up a lot of time and effort. And if you live in a place that has a different culture, accents, and traditions from the rest of your state, you’re going to have to put in extra hard work. Why? Because, not only are you trying to make your wedding a theme that matches your personality, but you’re also trying to showcase your culture and traditions to your guests. Be proud of who you are!
In this article, we will help you design a Western wedding theme that shows the country’s culture. If you live in places such as Southern California or Oklahoma, you’ll just love these ideas.
What does it mean by a Western Wedding theme?
This phrase has different meanings across the globe. If you’re reading this article from Asia, a Western theme might mean cut-up wedding gowns with a tight cut low. If you’re in Europe, you’ll think of cowboys and banjos. And if you’re in the West, you’ll be expecting a lot of country music in this article. Well, you’ll be excited to know that this article covers all those aspects. We’re here to make your theme wedding dream come true!
Choose a Western Wedding Venue
The best part of this wedding theme is that there is no one right place. You can decide to have your wedding in a forest, a field, or even in your own backyard! All your decorations will be cowboy-themed to give the howdy vibe, and it won’t even cost you that much.
Even though you can choose whichever place you like, the best venue for a Western-themed wedding is an outdoor area. Nothing complements a country more than the country’s nature itself. You can decorate your venue with stable woods, rustic fountains, and palm trees to give it a neutral look.
Dress Western!
It is true that most brides wear white gowns at their weddings, but trust me this rule is stated in no law book. It’s your wedding and you are free to dress however you like. A bride can wear a tail long white satin dress with white cowboy boots and a groom can go for a brown waistcoat and a cowboy hat. Or, the couple can design a denim jacket to be a color other than blue and wear it as a matching outfit. That way you can dress comfortably as well as elegantly. Tell your bridesmaids and best men to do the same thing! This will set a theme no one will have ever seen before.
Hire a Banjo to play at your wedding
Every wedding is incomplete without music. Most weddings consist of light background music that gives it a fancy feeling. But we’re not looking for any of that. We want to rock and dance at our Western wedding.
Hiring a banjo requires a lot of thinking. You want to feel the moment and enjoy it to the fullest. You want the music to make you feel happy as the sunsets and crimson hues fill the evening sky. You want to tap in your cowboy boots and hats and swing around with your partner with the widest smile plastered on your face as dance in the orange sun.
Send out Western Wedding invitations
Since we’re designing everything else to be a Western theme, why not send out invitations in Western style as well? One trick to do this is by looking up Western fonts to write your invitation in. Draw in clever illustrations such as a boot, a horse, or a wheat leaf. Choose a color palette of orange, yellow, and green to give the vibe. Last but not least, put on ancient stamps on the envelopes to complete the look. You can also send pine cones along with the invitation to give it an extra taste.
Rustic wedding cakes
You didn’t forget about your wedding cake, did you? Allow me to show you the beauty of Western cake delights. Imagine yourself tired from all the dancing you just did but you don’t want the night to end just yet. Suddenly, you hear someone holler, “It’s time for cake!” and you walk arm in arm with your partner toward the most magnificent rustic cake set on top of a beautiful antique wood table. Your cake is decorated with horseshoe adornments and the icing is a woody texture of brown. And the flavors. Oh, the flavors! You had a cake custom-made in chocolate flavoring and specifically told the baker to add chocolate chips to resemble earthy soil. Your night just got ten times better thanks to this delicious cake.
Wood-adorned photo booth
Set up your photo booth on top of a dried patch of mud. Place two wooden sticks to make a triangular frame and place oak and palm trees on the side. There flows a river behind your photo booth and the view overlooks the mountains in a distance. You hold your partner in your arms and pose for a picture that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
Don’t forget a Western bar
Having a standing bar with a bartender at your wedding may be the best idea ever. What to serve as drinks? Everything from pina coladas to fancy champagnes! Set up your bar to match your photobooth by placing wooden logs everywhere. It might be even better if you place log benches for your guests to sit on while they chat away sipping their drinks.
A few extra decorations
Although your rustic venue is complete, there’s no harm in adding a few extra decorations. Don’t worry, we’re not suggesting you hire a decorator or anything of that sort. All you need to do is hang a few leaf garlands here and there. You can also suspend a few plastic and wood horses from the ceiling to give it a better look. Oh, and don’t forget the lights. You want dancing fireflies in the dark to enhance the natural beauty of the outdoors!
